Let’s set up a safe space for your child to learn and practice

Before We Begin

This short setup helps you:

  • Understand exactly what this app does (and doesn’t do)
  • Give informed consent for your child under 13
  • Choose which topics and trusted adults your child can access
  • Review our privacy and safety practices
Time commitment: About 5-7 minutes to complete. You can pause and return anytime.

Important: LifeAsCodeKids & Teens is an educational tool. It is not therapy, medical care, or crisis support. You remain responsible for your child’s safety and wellbeing.

What This App Is (and Isn’t)

  • Helps kids practice words for feelings, body safety, and boundaries
  • Teaches digital boundaries (phones, photos, passwords, online pressure)
  • Provides age-appropriate scripts for saying “no,” “stop,” and “I need help”
  • Uses Rae (constant guide) + 6 trusted adult characters for different topics
  • Gives you summaries, conversation starters, and parent dashboards

❌ What LifeAsCodeKids/Teens is NOT

  • NOT therapy, counseling, or medical treatment
  • NOT an emergency or crisis service
  • NOT a social media platform, chat app, or dating app
  • NOT graphic sex education
  • NOT a tool to teach kids to hide from parents
  • NOT a guarantee that harm will be prevented
If your child is in immediate danger: Contact 911, local authorities, or a crisis hotline immediately. This app is not monitored 24/7 and does not provide emergency services.

Create Your Parent Account

You’ll use this account to manage all your children’s profiles, settings, and content access.

🔒 Your Privacy

We use your email only to send account updates, progress summaries, and important safety alerts. We will never sell your information or send ads.

Add Your First Child

You can add more children later from your parent dashboard.

We don’t require legal names for privacy.
Body safety lessons: Children will only learn anatomy for their own body. You can adjust these settings anytime.

Choose Trusted Adult Guides

Your child will meet Rae (constant guide) and up to 6 trusted adult helpers. Each appears only for specific topics using pre-written scripts.

How This Works

Rae of Sunshine is always present as the secure base. Other adults appear automatically by topic (you control which are enabled).

You can enable or disable any guide anytime from your parent dashboard.

COPPA Consent & Privacy Notice

Because your child is under 13, federal law (COPPA) requires us to get your consent before collecting any information.

What We Collect About Your Child:

  • Nickname, age range, pronouns, avatar selection
  • Lesson progress (which missions completed, skills practiced)
  • App usage data (time spent, features used)

What We DO NOT Collect:

  • ❌ Full legal name or exact birthdate
  • ❌ Precise location or home address
  • ❌ Photos, videos, or voice recordings
  • ❌ Social Security Number or government ID

How We Use This Information:

  • Provide the service and save your child’s progress
  • Send you summaries of what your child practiced
  • Improve content and fix bugs
  • Comply with laws and protect safety
We Do NOT: Sell your child’s data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

Your Rights:

  • Review your child’s information anytime
  • Request deletion of all data
  • Revoke consent and close the account

Terms of Service & Your Responsibilities

You Are In Control: This app supports you, but does not replace your role as parent or guardian.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You remain responsible for your child’s safety and supervision
  • You agree to follow up on any safety concerns the app surfaces
  • You understand this app is educational, not medical or therapeutic care
  • You agree to contact emergency services directly for urgent concerns
  • You may set device rules and monitor your child’s use as you see fit

Our Responsibilities:

  • Provide age-appropriate, evidence-informed educational content
  • Protect your child’s privacy and data security
  • Give you control over settings, content, and trusted adults
  • Be transparent about what the app does and doesn’t do
Limitation of Liability: THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES. We do not guarantee the app will prevent harm. If you suspect abuse, neglect, or danger, contact authorities immediately.
